How God Wants Us To Live
And
he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with
all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.
And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two
commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
I
am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is
that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
There
is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.
“Judge
not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be
judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see
the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in
your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of
your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the
log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of
your brother's eye. ...
But
he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every
word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Therefore
be imitators of God, as beloved children.
And
you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your mind and with all your strength.’
And
he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take
up his cross daily and follow me.
Therefore
do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Do
not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”
Therefore
let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not
laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward
God,
But
seek first the kingdom of God and his
righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
For
as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an
altar with this inscription, ‘To the unknown god.’ What therefore you worship
as unknown, this I proclaim to you.
Of
David. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within
me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and
forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your
diseases,
Whom
have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides
you.
His
divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness,
through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,
But
the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness,
That
they may know that you alone, whose name is the Lord, are
the Most High over all the earth.
